My name is Dawna Cintron. This is my 19th year teaching and my 15th year in the William Floyd School District. I began my career as an Elementary Science Specialist supporting teachers while instructing young students in science, technology, engineering, and math. I started my position here at William Floyd teaching 8th graders at Paca Middle School and soon after relocated to the high school where I teach Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Honors Earth Science, Regents Earth Science, Astronomy, and Meteorology. I earned a Bachelors in Elementary Education with a concentration in Science at St. Joseph's College, a Masters in Literacy, and a Masters in School District Leadership, both at Long Island University.
I have been flipping my classroom since 2014 and I am currently a huge fan of EDPuzzle to assist in my approach. I believe in a high-quality science education and provide students with the opportunity to acquire an in-depth understanding of content while fostering them in the development of key skills—communication, collaboration, inquiry, problem solving, and flexibility - that will serve them throughout their educational and professional lives.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my large family for my husband and I have 4 children, turn old things new again, read, dabble in the visual arts, and travel.
